Solomon is famous for saying there is nothing new under the sun. Only he said it in Hebrew. Last week we learned that creativity is ordinary things put together in an unordinary fashion. This is why we find our ideas overlapping with the ideas of other people from time to time. Creativity is taking something ordinary and turning it into something else that’s been altered from its original state.
I used the mixing soda pop analogy because I know it disgusted some of you. That was intentional. Because creativity is not always palatable. Sometimes switching the order of ordinary things or putting random things together produces unflattering results.
Unflattering or not, you should feel accomplished. If you have made it through the flat plane of reality and find yourself sitting under it examining and successfully changed the building blocks of traditional reality, then you have accomplished quite a lot. You are CREATIVE. It's as easy as that. This is where it gets fun because it's both super scary and cool all at the same time.
In the next part we will take it one step farther by asking, what is CREATIVE PROBLEM SOLVING?
